Don't Miss: 2014 Providence Children's Film Festival
For eight days, the Festival will present the highest quality independent films for ages 3-18. In addition to the usual line-up of features and shorts, this year’s schedule will include an expanded program of post-film discussions and, over the weekend of February 8 and 9, hands-on, filmmaking workshops for ages 6 to 14.

The program will also include a wide variety of genres and forms—classic cinema, live action, animation, and documentary—paired with an expanded offering of “Film Talks,” PCFF’s own brand of post-screening discussions that aim to deepen understanding of subject matter and foster critical watching skills.
This yeah, the Festival welcomes local Rhode Island film maker Mitty Mirrer to present and discuss her documentary, Gold Star Children, described here along with three other films, as a preview of the 2014 line-up:
SAFETY LAST (Harold Lloyd's classic film) - All ages.
Harold Lloyd plays a clerk who comes up with a wild publicity stunt to draw attention to a department store. Like Chaplin and Keaton, his stunts are his own and the results are dangerously comical.
THE ZIGZAG KID (with Isabella Rossellini) - Ages 10 and up.
A film for kids starring Isabella Rossellini? "Yes!" we say at PCFF.
An aspiring adolescent detective teams up with a master burglar and finds out more than he bargained for about the mysterious past of his mother—and about himself.
ERNEST AND CELESTINE (Animation from France.) – All ages.
A bear and a mouse develop a one of a kind friendship that is challenged by the world they live in. Based on the classic Belgian book series by Gabrielle Vincent, Ernest & Celestine was a winner of the Cesar Award for Best Animated Feature.
GOLD STAR CHILDREN (Directed by local filmmaker and parent, Mitty Mirrer.) - Ages 10 and up.
A documentary feature that takes a close look at American children who’ve lost a parent to war and how they learn to heal alongside the now-adult child survivors of the Vietnam War.
Pricing and Locations
Tickets to the 2014 Providence Children’s Film Festival are just $6 for children and $8 for adults.
Group discounts are available. Films screen at 3 venues located within walking distance of one another: *Metcalf Auditorium in the RISD Museum Chace Center, 20 North Main Street
*Cable Car Cinema, 204 South Main Street
*RISD Auditorium, 17 Canal Street.

Screenings on February 16, 20, and 23 at RISD Museum’s Metcalf Auditorium are free.
