Don't Miss: Manton Avenue Project Gala June 7

If you've never seen the creative collaboration between theatre pros and inner-city kids that defines the work of the Manton Avenue Project, here's a gala opportunity.

Co-chairs Joe Wilson, Jr. and Karen Adams rounded up major local theatre talent, including Trinity Rep's Rachael Warren, right, and The Gamm Theatre's artistic director Tony Estrella to perform, with MAP kids, in a set of short plays inspired by the theme of immigration to America--always a timely subject.

More fun: the plays are shorts, half-written by "guest adults" including Festival Ballet Providence Artistic Director Mihailo Djuric and RI State Senator Paul V. Jabour.

Need a little more celebrity appeal?  One of the auction items is a private cocktail party and tour of actor and artist Anthony Quinn's studio at his RI home, pictured left.

"There's no rubber chicken, no big speeches," says MAP Board Chair Heather Florence.  "It's kids and professionals doing theatre together."

The gala is Monday, June 7, from 6-8:30pm at the Angell Blackfriars Theatre, Smith Center for the Performing Arts, Providence College.  Tickets are $50. Call 331-7007 or email [email protected] for more information and to purchase tickets. www.mantonavenueproject.org
