"Love, Marilyn," award-winning filmmaker Liz Garbus' look at the film icon, is playing in a special Valentine's Day double-bill at NewportFILM's screening at the Jane Pickens Theater.
It's the perfect Valentine's date--you, your intended, and the fabulous Marilyn Monroe.

Actually, it's NewportFILM's Valentine's Day screenings of "Love, Marilyn," and it's a Marilyn Monroe like you've never seen before. Drawing on never-before-seen personal papers, diaries and letters, Academy-award nominated director Liz Garbus (Bobby Fischer Against The World, The Farm: Angola, USA) worked with acclaimed actresses to evoke the multiple aspects of the real Marilyn - passion, ambition, soul-searching, power and fear – in an absorbing and astonishing portrait. Adam Braver, the RI-based author of the new novel, "Misfit", based on the last days of Marilyn Monroe’s life, will be in attendance to introduce each film.

These documents, brought to life in this film by some of our contemporary icons and stars, give us a new and revelatory understanding of Monroe, revealing her carefully guarded inner life.

The film is showing at Newport's Jane Pickens Theater, 49 Touro St, in two screenings, at 6:30pm and 8:45pm.
