Dr. Joan Branham Talks Cathedrals on NOVA

Tonight, Dr. Joan R. Branham, professor of art history at Providence College, will take part in a nationally-televised NOVA episode on PBS entitled Building the Great Cathedrals (check local listings for times). The program is an architectural journey inside majestic marvels of gothic architecture, Branham's speciality, featuring the great cathedrals of Chartres and Beauvais in France, and others throughout Europe.

Global Roads Lead Home

Branham served as a scholarly consultant on the film in France, mainly working with script ideas behind the scenes, but also appears in the program at Basilica of Saint-Denis. “I’ve been able to participate on a few different shows,” said the professor, who acknowledged the talented work of Providence Pictures, a local, award-winning film and video production company specializing in documentaries on science, history, art, and culture. “And one of the reasons we’re so connected, is, the owner I am married to!” laughed Branham, referring to husband Gary Glassman. Brahman concedes it is seldom the couple has the opportunity to work together, but says Providence has a lot of the proud of with this project.
