Elderly Nursing Home Mom Fixes Son Up With CNA, Couple Fast-Tracks Wedding to Beat COVID-19

The happy couple -- and mom.
Estelle McGovern, a 92-year-old mother who resides in Linn Health & Rehabilitation nursing home in East Providence, had been trying to fix up her son -- with her nursing assistant -- for some time.

In fact, McGovern had been trying to set the couple up since 2017, but each having each been divorced, they said they had no interest in meeting.

However, when McGovern's son Mick rushed to his mother’s side one day when she became ill, he finally met Susan Nestelle, her CNA.

It turns out, Mom was right -- and it was love at first sight.

Wedding Pushed Up Due to Coronavirus

The couple has now abandoned their December 2020 wedding ceremony plans for fear of COVID-19 virus entering the East Providence nursing home where Estelle McGovern resides and Nestelle works.

As of April 14, there were no cases among the facility -- but they will instead hold their nuptials outdoors practicing safe distancing with their two witnesses, and connect with both Mick’s mother indoors and the
minister remotely using FaceTime.

This Saturday, at the Winslow Gardens Assisted Living outdoor courtyard, adjacent to Linn Health & Rehabilitation in East Providence, Mick and Susan will get married -- with mom watching remotely on.

It is love in the time of coronavirus.
