Finding the Perfect Summer Manicure

Being in the beauty industry for many years, I have had countless manicures. They look so gorgeous in the salon: shiny and perfect. Then reality hits: a chip, a smudge, a crack. With a busy lifestyle including oodles of typing on a computer and Blackberry, most manicures just do not cut it. However, that all changed last Wednesday when I was introduced to a life-changing manicure at Jace Salon and Spa in Rumford: the Shellac by CND (Creative Nail Design).

Shannon Luiz, Jace’s super talented nail technician, raved to me about the Shellac manicure. I really had a hard time believing the claims: no chips, cracks, peels or smudges and ZERO dry time.  Could it be? A mirror finish for two weeks? Perfect nails for 14 days? I decided to put Shannon and Shellac to the test.

I arrived at Jace and was impressed by the atmosphere. Chic and professional but with a Steel Magnolias energy, everyone seemed to be part of a community. Not only did you get your hair and nails done, you caught up with friends. Owner and stylist Christine Armoush is unbelievably friendly, with decades of experience and beauty savvy.

With a few coats, a few minutes under the special UV light and the removal of a sticky layer on the nail, I had gorgeous, coral nails that were gleaming. And ZERO dry time (the UV light sets the hybrid polish so there is no risk of smudging). Nine days later and my nails look as immaculate as they did when I left Jace. Shannon and Shellac were right on the money. I am forever hooked on the Shellac manicure and look forward to my next visit to Jace Salon and Spa to catch up with my new friends.
