Fit for Life: Attack 2024 by Doing This

If you accomplished your goals, great job. Let's keep all that positive energy and momentum rolling into 2024. If you didn't, it's probably because of a couple of reasons, and the biggest one is that you didn't have a plan or strategy.

It would help if you had more than some verbal plan three drinks into your night to succeed at anything. You need a structured roadmap to bring you from where you are now to where you are going; then you need to break it down and reverse-engineer it.
I have been part of masterminds and coaching groups for nine years now, and what helps me get the most from each passing year is how they help me plan, strategize, and record my metrics.
Everyone needs a plan, and not to sound too cliche, but if you fail to plan, plan to fail. That said, I will share the blueprint I have accumulated over the years that made 2023 my best year ever so you can use it to map out and attack 2024 and make it your best year ever.
First and foremost, you need a BIG 5. These are your biggest goals of the year. Pick 5 because having too many BIG goals will set you up for failure. These could be a vacation, a set amount of income, opening a business, doing a Spartan race, or buying a house.
NEXT, YOU NEED TO BREAK IT DOWN AND COMPLETE A TEMPLATE FOR EACH QUARTER.
LIST OUT THE FOLLOWING:
⁃What I have accomplished in the last 90 days. Keep a journal and log down your accomplishments. This will help you see what you have achieved when you get stressed out when things aren't happening fast enough.
⁃What will I accomplish in the next 90 days? How will this look? Everything from losing weight to making more money must be documented and broken down so you have smaller, more attainable goals to conquer. Remember, you overestimate what you can do in a week, but we underestimate what we can accomplish in a year, so breaking things down makes them more realistic.
⁃What are my current obstacles and setbacks? Yes, you will face obstacles and setbacks, so be solution-focused and focused on solving problems. Getting these down on paper makes it easier to overcome when they are front of mind. When a pro sports team faces a bigger, stronger opponent, they focus on the problems opposing players will present. Do the same with your life's goals, and fight through the obstacles.
⁃At the end of each quarter, do an AAR or after-action report by using the following formatted questions, then make corrections for the next quarter.
•What worked and what didn't?
•Where did you succeed and struggle?
•What do you need to stop and start doing?
•Where is the opportunity for growth?
Lastly, be sure you are setting SMART GOALS by using the following goal-setting format:
S- Specific
M - Measurable
A - Achievable
R - Relevant
T - Time-bound
It took me years of learning and thousands of dollars to figure out the best strategy for getting the most out of each and every year, so I just gave you the format that worked for me to save you lots of time and money.
Will you accomplish 100% of these goals? Probably not, but you will achieve most of them when you use a blueprint and strategy like the one I listed above. I hope this helps, and I look forward to your success in 2024.
Happy New Year,
Coach Matt
