Fit for Life: I Got Called Out! Here's My "F" Bomb Response.

The other day, one of my members quoted a line I wrote in one of my articles and asked me, "Are you living your best life?"

We were discussing some of the fun things she had done this summer, and I could not add anything to the conversation.

She caught me at a time when I was going through some ups and downs, as you read in last week's article. Not only was I experiencing a bit of adversity, but I realized that summer was almost over, and I hadn't really taken any time off to enjoy it. I had been so focused on work that I had minimal time for fun these past few months.

Then, imposter syndrome hit me, and questions to myself mounted!! Am I a hypocrite? Am I telling people to live their best lives and not doing it myself? What does living our best lives look like, and what do we actually need to do to succeed at this task? I then started taking a mental inventory and came up with an analogy of my Life.

First and foremost, my health is on point. Actually, my health supersedes people 1/2 my age. It is impossible to live your best Life if your health is deteriorating. You are a ticking time bomb to yourself and a liability to your family and friends. If you are overweight, out of shape, and struggle to walk up a flight of stairs, it will morph into other areas of your Life, making it difficult, if not impossible, to live life to your fullest potential.

Next is family. Although my grandmother is 100 and has some family members with health issues, I am incredibly grateful to have both parents, aunts, and a couple of cousins still around. I lost a sister and brother prematurely, but longevity is in my genes. My grandparents lived well into their 80s, and I got to meet them all. I see my parents regularly, and with politics aside, I get along great with them both. So, in general, my family relationships are intact, which adds to the formula for a good life.

Financially, I am not where I want to be, but getting closer every year. I used to think I could get rich quick, then get discouraged when I failed to accomplish what I envisioned. I am not a millionaire. However, I take steps every day to put myself in a position to someday, in the near future, earn 7 figures a year. I run a great business, don't carry debt, and travel frequently. I have a decent truck, live in a decent neighborhood, have a retirement fund, and have some emergency savings in reach.

With all that being said, I still have a long way to go, but I am willing to pay the price to get there. This is a sacrifice, as I work long, unpredictable hours at times, but this is what I signed up for and the steps I need to take to even consider living my best Life.

Over the years, with hours of coaching and self-development under my belt, my faith in myself has grown, contributing to living my best life. I have a great girlfriend, and my network of friends and colleagues is the best ever. I have strong relationships with other professional, high-performing people all over the country, and knowing I have people who support me and will help me if I ask adds value to my Life.

Those four "F's"—fitness, Family, Finances, and Faith—are the pillars of living your best Life. When combined, they = fulfillment. They give me the strength and energy to live my purpose, passion, and mission, which is helping people change their lives for the better. From my members at Providence Fit Body Boot Camp to the team I have that serves them and the youth I mentor, I am taking steps to leave behind a legacy.

So, what does living your best Life look like?

Are you doing it?

Are you fulfilled?

What would not living your best Life look like?

⁃Struggling through the day with stress and anxiety

⁃Toxic relationships

⁃Unhappy at work

⁃Dealing with controllable health risks

⁃Buried in debt, not getting ahead

If this describes you, START WITH YOUR HEALTH AND FITNESS, and you can stack wins on top of that daily. Lead yourself before you attempt to lead others in business and Life.

When you are in shape, healthy, energetic, and vital, the dominos will fall in your favor. That sets the tone for earning more income and incorporating better relationships. This is one of the main things that is in your control.

You control your health, and your health will determine your destiny.

How is your lifestyle supporting the four "F's" required to be successful and an asset to yourself, your family, and society

It's all relative, and when I think about it, I am living the best life possible at this time.

We succeed as long as we continue to take action and focus on the tasks leading us to live our best lives.

Do I sacrifice some fun along the way? Absolutely. However, living your "best" life doesn't necessarily mean it needs to be all fun and games. Living your best life has a cost, and we need to make these payments every day.

Committed to you living your best life,

Matt

P.S. After the conversation with my client, we booked a week-long vacation starting 9/1/2024. (Thanks Sue)
