Fit For Life: It’s All About You – & It’s Endless What You Can Accomplish

You see, all the shiny objects in the world won’t allow you to succeed until you work on yourself first. It doesn’t matter whether you are trying to succeed in business or fitness, it all starts with you. You can have all the best systems, gadgets, and marketing tools you can buy, but they are useless unless you develop the right mindset, and put a plan into action. Just like all the fancy gym equipment on the market. If you don’t develop the mindset and discipline that you are going to be consistent with your journey, it is also useless.
I am notorious for gathering information, buying into new marketing platforms and resources, but not using them effectively. I have purchased several items that I never use, or use infrequently that netted me zero results. Most of it is trial and error to see what works and doesn’t, but some of it is also follow through. Let me give you an example: I KNOW how I should be managing my time. I have read books, hired a life coach, and attended numerous talks on the subject, but still have days that I don’t get enough done because I still allow distractions and trivial bullshit to derail my plans and sabotage my schedule.
Manage your time
I tell my clients to schedule their workouts and ruthlessly protect your time, and although I do that MOST of the time, I still have days where I mismanage my time. A perfect example is this article. I always intend to start it on a Tuesday, for publication on a Saturday, but find myself waking up early on Friday, or anxiously getting it done to reach my deadline. I never miss a workout, but I still need to manage and protect my time better with other important tasks.
Take responsibility
Another topic that we are taught or reminded of is to take responsibility for your own actions and own up to every mistake, mishap, and failure that happens to us. If something goes wrong with anything we do in life, it’s our own fault. If a teammate makes a mistake, it’s my fault for not training them properly, or clarifying the task. If a member is unhappy, I own it. If I get distracted throughout the day, it’s not the phone’s fault, its mine for letting it distract me. Basically, we are all in charge of our own destiny, and we need to point the finger at ourselves, not someone else. So, we all need to be self-aware of what we are doing wrong, and hold ourselves accountable to fix the things that go wrong in our lives.
Be prepared
Preparation is another important factor on the road to success. If you fail to prepare, prepare to fail. I also need to work on this more. I listened to a presenter that told the group his 2018 marketing calendar is already done. Me, I have a vague schedule that gets me through January. So again, it’s me that needs to step up and take command of getting things done in advance, and have a better vision of what my future strategies will be. This doesn’t have to be set in stone, and can be changed along the way, but having a vision and a plan is key to achieve the next level.
Take action
The last topic I will share is that your thoughts control your actions, and you need to take action all the time. A negative thought process is toxic in most cases, and will hold you back from accomplishing your goals. It takes a lot more energy when you let negative thoughts consume you. Henry Ford has a famous quote “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you are correct”. One of my coaches told me to get rid of the stinking thinking, and all the mind trash in your head will only get in your way.
So give your goals some thought. I always tell my people, that if they are trying to get fit, look at other Providence Fit Body Boot Camp members that have achieved incredible success, and think… if they can do it, it’s not impossible, so I can to. I look at other more successful owners and say to myself, if they can do it, so can I. Instead of having the negative thought process, and tell yourself something is impossible, change that thought process into an I can do attitude.
It’s all about you. If you apply some positive thinking, a lot of hard work, and an action takers attitude, its endless what you can accomplish.
