It’s hard to believe the holiday season is upon us. All the planning and prepping can leave little time for quality time with the kiddos! If you’re looking for some creative last minute outings, we’ve got you covered. We'll bring you our 5 favorites in the region every Tuesday, and they're all within an hour's drive of home. Checkout this week's pre-holiday fun!

Discover!

Kids love nothing more than to discover new things hands-on! This week, why not take them to the Discovery Center at the Providence Children’s Museum to let them do just that? This Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-11am, kids will get to play with magnets! They will use magnetic stones to test and try different materials to see what is and isn’t magnetic. There will even be a fun maze that kids will steer objects through using a magic (magnetic) wand! 100 South Street, Providence, RI. (401) 273-5437.

Jump!

While you are planning menus and making arrangements for upcoming holiday events and parties, your kids are itching to get out and DO something! Luckily, there is a special place very close to home that they can go to take out all that built up energy. Pump It Up in Shrewsbury has “Pop-In Playtime” daily at different times to accommodate all sorts of hectic schedules. Go spend an hour and 15 minutes jumping, sliding, climbing and playing with other families. All the equipment is interactive and fun! 810 Boston Turnpike Road, Shrewsbury, MA. (508) 845-5867. Show your little ones how beautiful the natural world really is at the Children’s Museum in Easton. Each Wednesday, head to the museum for a 45 minute session exploring the basics of gardening. Stories, games and activities will be used to familiarize kids with plants and nature. If it’s too cold or rainy, not to worry! The fun will be brought inside. 9 Sullivan Avenue, North Easton, MA. (508) 230-3789.

Holiday Stories!

With big holiday season on its way, of course kids are excited! This Friday, bring the little ones to Barnes & Noble in Warwick for a very special holiday story hour. An elf will be coming all the way from the North Pole to read “The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition.” Afterwards, kids will get a chance to talk to the elf and even get a picture taken with him! 1350 Bald Hill Road, Warwick, RI. (401) 826-8885.

Nature!

If you have a child between the ages of 3 and 5, sign up today for the “Third Week Wonders Preschool Series” hosted by the Broad Meadow Brook division of Mass Audubon. Choose from the third Wednesday, Thursday, or Saturday of each month for your adventure day. Each time you go, you and your little one will enjoy an hour of story, activity and a nature walk. 414 Massasoit Avenue, Worcester, MA. (508) 753-6087.
