Moms Can-Do's: Winterfest + More

Moms of little ones—from toddlers to elementary schoolers—looking for fun things to do during the week? Creative spots for last-minute outings? Fun events, especially for little ones? We'll bring you our 5 favorites in the region every Tuesday, and they're all within an hour's drive of home. Checkout this week's January fun.

Winterfest!

Take a trip to Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, MA for a whole lot of winter fun at Winterfest! Every weekend through the end of March, enjoy winter activities that will be sure to please both you and the kiddos. Pack your sleds, cross-country skis, snowshoes, and energy to make the day all the more special. And afterwards, warm up with some fresh hot chocolate by a toasty fire!

Clay fun!

Do your little ones love working with their hands? If so, why not sign them up for a local pottery class just for kids? Barrington’s Clay Art Studio of Rhode Island offers just that! Check out the great after-school classes taught at the studio, where children are allowed to completely express their personal creativity—even choosing which materials to work with on a class-to-class basis.

Valentines!

Love is in the air! That’s right, Valentine’s Day is approaching, and what better way to celebrate than with a Valentines workshop? The story goes that Worcester is the original home of the American Valentine—and proud of it! Bring the little ones to one of several Valentine Workshops throughout the city to make special cards for loved ones, or even enter their handmade Valentines into the 36th Annual “Be Our Valentine” Contest!

Celebrate!

Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Children’s Museum in Easton, MA. This great event will include a number of kid-friendly service learning activities that will echo Dr. King’s dream of diversity and equality. Throughout the day, participants will help to build a community art mobile as a reminder of what MLK day is really all about.
