La Soga Salvation -- the feature-length film written and directed by Providence native Manny Perez -- will be leaping onto the big screen with a preview to be held on January 28 at the Providence Place Cinema.

Dominican-American actor Perez, who grew up on the South Side of Providence, stars in the film that he wrote and directed, alongside Sarah Jorge Leon (Jane The Virgin, After), Juan Fernandez, (A Man Apart, Crocodile Dundee), Hada Vanessa (The Perfect Murder, Model), Chris McGarry, (Lawless, Chicago Fire), and a cast of actors from Rhode Island and the Dominican Republic.
La Soga Salvation is Perez’ directorial debut and was filmed in Pawtucket and Providence, with scenes shot in New York, and the Dominican Republic. The film debuted in September at the 2021 Toronto Film Festival.
About Perez
Perez, who graduated from Central High School and first discovered his passion for acting at Trinity Rep, has been an established presence in dozens of feature films over the past two decades, including Freedom (2021), Love Is Strange (2014), Pride & Glory (2008), El Cantante (2006), and Bella (2006).
He received critical acclaim for the independent film Washington Heights (2002), which he co-wrote, produced, and starred in. Perez is also well known for his work on the small screen, most notably in Showtime’s Homeland, Netflix’s Luke Cage, Amazon Prime’s Big Dogs, Law & Order: SVU, Hawaii Five-O, The Blacklist, Blue Bloods, and many others. Perez has also starred in several feature-length films produced in the Dominican Republic.
