MUSIC: Local Music Dominates The Met

It was chilly Friday night in Rhode Island, but despite the cold, a magnificent trio of local bands from The Creative Capital of Providence heated up the stage and warmed every heart in the room. The Mighty Good Boys, Last Good Tooth and Ravi Shavi played some amazing tunes that made a memorable night for all.

The Mighty Good Boys

The Mighty Goods went on stage with their infectious brand of folk-rock and everyone was shuffling their feet to the glorious sound. A great opening set featuring "Stranger", "Dead Done Wrong", "Take A Train", "Upstate" and "Cincinnati" rocked the crowd into oblivion and provided an ingenious start to the night. The Mighty Good Boys will be working on a new album in a few months so definitely keep your eyes peeled.

Last Good Tooth

Indie rockers Last Good Tooth added gloriously eerie feeling to the night, led my guitarist Penn Sultan's soothing, staccato-esque voice. "Awkward Friends", "2001 Massacre", "Eeeeeeee", "Look What I Made" and "Forget McDonald" highlighted an emphatic performance for the power trio, who were without their fiddle player this evening. Last Good Tooth has an album out under the title The Meeting Was A Great Success that you have to grab next time you see these guys play.

Ravi Shavi

Up last were a band that are no stranger to a review by yours truly, garage pop post-everything rock & rollers Ravi Shavi. Rafay Rashid and the boys kicked it off with a brand new song "Once" and then into a flurry of "InDecision", "Courage", "Birds", "Quickersand", "Accidental Mental", "She's Out There Being A Sneaky Little Bitch", "Bobbie's Hobbies", "Mediocre Millions", "Vacation Holiday" and "Demigods" that had people cutting a rug on The Met's hardwood floor. Tapestries' Mike Decosta then joined Ravi Shavi on stage with a guitar and played "Onamaton" for a fantastic encore.
