National Arts Conference Coming to Providence in October

It's a very nice feather in the cap of the self-titled Creative Capital.

The Alliance of Artists Communities 20th annual conference is coming to Providence October 20-23. With a theme of “Advancing Today’s Artists: Boldness and Abundance in a New Economy”, the conference aims to showcase the active talent in Providence as well as educate about ways to amplify and enhance the careers of individual artists. 

Adam Short, the Development and Program Manager of the Alliance, says one of the focuses of the conference is creating programs for board members of arts organization in an effort to form more residency programs. “Many artists don’t realize they can take advantage of residency programs,” says Short. “These organizations can be more creative and also be affective without having to depend on the old models for raising money. “

Speakers who will deliver keynote addresses include Daniel Bernard Roumain, a composer/musician, Clay Rockefeller, artist and Co-Founder of The Steel Yard, Anna Schuleit, visual artists and Elizabeth Streb, choreographer/dancer.
