Organize + Energize: 2 Projects to Tackle This Summer

In January and March I gave you projects to tackle in your home. I’m giving you two small projects for the summer.  Most don’t want to be inside organizing during the hot, summer months. Save these projects for a dark, rainy day. Make a plan to schedule them on your calendar between now and August.

Here are 2 projects you can tackle:

Kids Clothes.  This is a great project to tackle in the summer because the kids are around and you can get organized before the back-to-school season. Make it fun for them.  Find creative ways for the ones who hate to try on clothes. Maybe you could put on a fashion show or let them know that it’s time to let go of things that don’t fit to make room for new clothes. Decide what you’re going to keep, toss, donate or save for another child. Once you’ve decluttered, it’s time to create organized systems. Let your kids in on the process. They’ll be more apt to maintain their organization if they have input in creating the systems.

Home Office. Whether you use your home office for work or personal, it’s a great time to purge files, take inventory of what you have, declutter, and create working organized systems. Once the clutter is removed, give this room a good cleaning and a fresh new look. Move furniture around and re-purpose other items in the home and move to this area to give it a facelift. You’ll bring new energy into the room and you’ll be more efficient and productive in a clutter free and organized space.

Even if you haven’t made progress in any other rooms, start here, get energized and move forward. Stop saying you’re too busy to get organized. You’re wasting time by not being organized. Put a plan into motion, mark it on the calendar, tackle it and reap the benefits of being organized.
