Relay for Life will be returning to Providence College for it’s 13th year on March 27, 2015 and the fundraising committee is hoping to reach their goal of $100,000 to fight cancer.

In 2014 the student body was able to raise $92,000 for the cause through their Colleges Against Cancer run - making it the third best college Relay for Life event in New England and the college's largest fundraising event.

"I can say that I have never been involved in something so rewarding," says Elinor Loria - Event Chair for Relay for Life at Providence College. "Everyone has been touched by cancer in some way, whether seriously or in passing, and the fact that we can all come together to fight back and make a difference is incredibly powerful. It’s also wonderful to have so many young people making a positive difference for our community and world."

The event will take place in Providence College’s Peterson Center from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. and will provide students with an opportunity to raise money and support for cancer victims.

Relay for Life will be beach-themed - complete with Hawaiian shirts, Kan-Jam and volleyball to keep students active as others continuously walk around the indoor track to raise money.

A traditional Luminaria ceremony - a presentation of candlelit bags - will be hosted to honor those fighting, and living with cancer as well as commemorate those who have lost the fight. Other events will include a jousting bounce house, and a Fight-Back ceremony geared at raising support for victims.
