Protect Your Skin in the Summer Sun

Skin Saver 1: Moisturizer with SPF Built In
Spending more time outdoors means less time on your beauty regimen, so stick with a product that multitasks. Abby recommends a lighter moisturizer in the summer since most people tend to get oilier with the humidity. Try Dermalogica Sheer Moisture with SPF 15 ($42 available at Facing Thayer in Providence) or Olay Definity Deep Penetrating Foaming UV Moisturizer SPF15 ($30, drug stores).
Skin Saver 2: Mineral Makeup
Switching over to mineral makeup in the summer is win-win for looks and skin health. “Mineral makeup has a natural, physical SPF in it and provides amazing customizable coverage that leaves skin matte but still glowing,” Abby says. Brush on Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup ($42-$48, available at Facing Thayer) or Bare Minerals by Bare Escentuals (available at The Apothecary Newport).
Skin Saver 3: Full Spectrum Sunblock 30SPF or higher
For your entire body, including face, SPF 30 or higher is the absolute way to go to protect your skin from dangerous rays. Abby says for an average build, a shot glass full of sunscreen is necessary to get the proper protection. Reapply every couple of hours or after swimming or engaging in activities that work up a sweat. We like Neutrogena Healthy Defense Oil-Free Sunblock Lotion SPF 45 ($11, drug stores) or Murad Oil-Free Sunblock SPF 30 ($31 at Sephora, Providence Place or sephora.com).
