Providence College Named Top Producer of Fulbright Students

This marks the second time in PC’s history that the college made the list, which was posted last week by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
PC was listed in the master’s category of colleges and universities that produced the most students for the competitive Fulbright U.S. Students Program, which awards fellowships to graduating college seniors, graduate students, professionals, and artists to study, conduct research, or teach abroad.

"I am so proud of our applicants,” said Dr. Darra Mulderry, associate director of PC’s Center for Engaged Learning and director of national and international fellowships and scholarships. “Interest in a Fulbright year as a U.S. cultural ambassador remains high among our graduating seniors and recent alumni. I am particularly thrilled that, for the first time ever, our Fulbright finalists were offered grants on three continents: Europe, South America, and Asia."
The four students selected for Fulbright are:
Dylan Black ’21, a mathematics major and economics minor from Mohegan Lake, NY, was offered a Fulbright to teach in the Czech Republic, but was deferred to fall 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Krista Minniti ’20, a political science and Spanish major from Madison, Conn., is now teaching English through a Fulbright grant in Madrid, Spain.
Jack Murphy ’20, a social work and Spanish double major from Brunswick, Maine, is in Paraguay teaching,
Nicole Gottlieb ’20, an elementary and special education major from Nantucket, Mass., was selected for a Fulbright to teach in Indonesia, but decided instead to assume a two-year teaching post at an international school in Uganda.
Since 1997, Providence College consistently has been ranked among the top five regional universities in the North according to U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges.”
