Providence Medical Orchestra Announces Second-Ever Concert
The concert will take place on Saturday, May 11 at 7 p.m. at Brown University’s Salomon Hall.
“Orchestra has been such an integral part of my life, ever since I was in the third grade, trying my hand at the violin for the first time. Medical school can be hectic at times. Having a musical outlet through the Providence Medical Orchestra keeps me grounded and happy. I am so grateful that I can continue with something that adds so much value to my life with a group of people who share in my love for classical music,” said co-president Alice Huang.

The Providence Medical Orchestra is a community orchestra comprised of medical professionals, premedical, medical and biomedical students, as well as members of the greater Providence community, led by Music Director, John Masko.
The orchestra’s upcoming concert will feature soprano Emily Derecktor, a third-year medical student at the Warren Alpert Medical School, along with Antonin Dvorak’s “New World” Symphony and George Butterworth’s Banks of Green Willow.
Derecktor is a coloratura soprano who originally hails from Portsmouth, Rhode Island. She has been performing for over 10 years. Recent roles include Ann Putnam from The Crucible, Madame Herz in Der Schauspieldirektor, and the Queen of the Night cover from The Magic Flute.

RI Philharmonic Orchestra Spring Concert at The Vets
The concert features the top-level Symphony Orchestra conducted by Music Director Alexey Shabalin, Repertory Orchestra under the direction of Vincent Mattera, String Orchestra with Irina Naryshkova, and the Intermediate String Ensemble led by Erin Quinton Erban.

Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs at Greenwich Odeum
Providence Ballet Theatre’s production transforms the traditional fairy tale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs into a contemporary multimedia performance. Through dance, music and video this classic story is brought to life on stage.
The viewer will encounter a magical Mirror, jealous Queen and a kind, generous and innocent Snow White who finds friends that protect and help along her journey
