Providence’s Most Hipster Neighborhoods

Hipsters are like buttered popcorn-flavored jelly beans - you either love them or hate them. There is no in between. Some people find their thick-framed glasses and vintage combat boots trendy. Others just want to shove their dog-eared copies of InfiniteJest down their throats.

Our data experts at FindTheBest crunched the numbers in order to find out which Providence neighborhoods are the most hipster. To do this, they created their own Hipster Score, which is a combination of a few factors: a majority of highly educated (bachelors degree Degree or higher) residents, a high percentage of residents between the ages of 20 and 34, and a large amount of cafes and yoga studios (calculated per 10K people).

The most hipster neighborhood in Providence? Fox Point has a Hipster Score of 85. It has 16.2 cafes per 10K people, 2.3 yoga studios per 10K people, and 54.8% of residents are twenty- and thirty-somethings. A whopping 75.6% of residents have bachelors degree degrees. College Hill comes in second place with a Score of 83, followed by Wayland. In last place is the Hartford Ave neighborhood, the least hipster neighborhood in Providence, preceded by Lower South Providence.
