Rafaelian, Giselle, and Roberts Receive “Women of Vision" Awards from David Lynch Foundation

Model, entrepreneur and activist Gisele Bündchen, co-anchor of Good Morning America Robin Roberts; and founder and CEO of ALEX and ANI Carolyn Rafaelian were among the women recognized Tuesday in New York City by the David Lynch Foundation (DLF), a global charitable organization that addresses the epidemic of trauma and toxic stress amongst at-risk populations.

“… what I love about the David Lynch Foundation is that it teaches the tool of meditation, a practice that has the ability to open the heart and the mind, and allow individuals to achieve the life they want to live,” Rafaelian told GoLocal on Tuesday.

The event celebrated the Foundation’s recent success providing scholarships for hundreds of women and children to learn to meditate through the Family Justice Centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens as well as Sanctuaries for Families and other women’s shelters in the New York area.

About the David Lynch Foundation (DLF)

Since 2005, the David Lynch Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has helped to bring the stress-reducing Transcendental Meditation technique to more than 500,000 children and adults around the world. They focus their efforts on underserved inner-city students; veterans with PTSD and their families; and women and children who are survivors of violence and abuse. DLF organizes and hosts scientific and professional conferences on business, education, veterans, corrections, and rehabilitation as well as town hall meetings to educate leaders and the general public on the benefits of meditation and the good works of the Foundation. In addition, DLF funds university and medical school research to assess the effects of the program on academic performance, ADHD and other learning disorders, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, cardiovascular disease, post-traumatic stress disorder, and diabetes.
