Pinchas Zukerman and Amanda Forsyth
The Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and the Festival Ballet Providence have announced that on Saturday, January 9, Pinchas Zukerman and Amanda Forsyth return to The VETS to usher in the New Year with "effervescent arrangements of Strauss waltzes, plus selections of Schubert, violin virtuosity by Kreisler, and plenty of surprises."

“Patrons will remember Maestro Zukerman and Ms. Forsyth from our 75th Anniversary Gala concert. The Phil is thrilled to welcome back these two great artists to kick off 2021," said Executive Director David Beauchesne.

Zukerman and Forsyth will perform with Philharmonic Orchestra members concertmaster Charles Dimmick, principal viola Abagail Cross, principal bass Barry Boettger, principal flute Susan Thomas, principal clarinet Ian Greitzer and Metropolitan Opera pianist Brian Wagorn.  Handel & Haydn’s Ian Watson will join on Harmonium.  The musicians will be joined on stage throughout the program by dancers from Festival Ballet Providence.

Under the direction of Artistic Curator and choreographer Yury Yanowsky, the dancers will interpret many of the evening’s pieces through unique choreography.

“We are overjoyed to return to The VETS and take the stage with Maestro Zukerman and Ms. Forsyth for this festive New Year’s concert” said Kathleen Breen Combes, Executive Director of Festival Ballet Providence. “In this unique time for arts organizations, it’s important that local institutions remain partners in collaboration. We are grateful to the RI Philharmonic for bringing two of the world’s greatest musicians together with Rhode Island’s premiere ballet company in this historic moment.”

Subscribers and “virtual” ticket buyers who purchase far enough in advance will be invited to a private Zoom cocktail conversation moderated by Beauchesne on Wednesday, January 6t to discuss the program with some of the artists involved, and to receive an update on planning for the second-half of the Philharmonic Orchestra season, which begins in March.
