RI Ranks Worst in Nation for “Social Well Being”

Rhode Island ranks worst in the nation in “social well being,” according to an index released Thursday by Gallup and Healthways, and reported by Business Insider.

Several measures of well-being were used to create their 2014 index, among them was social well-being, which was defined as "having supportive relationships and love in your life."

The state with the best social well being was South Dakota, with Wyoming, South Carolina, Virginia, and Nebraska rounding out the top 5.

Rounding out the bottom 5 along with Rhode Island were Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky.

In the overall Gallup and Healthways Well Being Index, Rhode Island ranks 37th, while Massachusetts ranks 17th and Connecticut comes in at #24.
