RI’s Anea Garcia Finishes as 2nd Runner-Up in Trump’s Miss USA

Cranston native Anea Garcia, age 20, finished in the third position in the Miss USA pageant held Sunday night.

The event owned by GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump was removed from NBC after Trump made controversial, anti-Mexican comments.

Olivia Jordan of Oklahoma was crowned Miss USA and Ylianna Guerra of Texas was 1st Runner Up.

Previously, RI's Olivia Culpo won the Miss USA pageant and then went on to win Miss Universe.

According to her bio:

She was adopted by her grandmother who has instilled in her the ideals of perseverance, principles, and values. Anea has been fortunate to attend private schooling since the 6th grade, which is where she received Catholic education which helped her stay true to her morals. Throughout her high school years, Anea worked and participated in her community while remaining focused academically. Now Anea is a second semester sophomore at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island on a full tuition grant through the International Leadership Award and is pursuing a double major in Legal Studies and Philosophy. Anea wishes to become a criminal attorney in the future.
