If you've been to see the acclaimed horror film The Cabin in the Woods, then you've seen an actor who resides in Rhode Island. Richard Jenkins, who is known for starring roles in television shows and films such as HBO's Six Feet Under, Step Brothers, and The Visitor, plays technician Gary Sitterson in the genre-bending horror flick. After graduating college Jenkins moved to Providence with his wife to join the Trinity Repertory Company (of which he served as Artistic Director for some time), and now he lives in Cumberland. He is also known for collaborating with the Farrelly Brothers, who are from Cumberland, having appeared in movies of theirs like There's Something About Mary, Outside Providence, and the upcoming 2012 Three Stooges Movie. Jenkins is also known to always eat Christmas Eve dinner at The Capital Grille in Providence and has been spotted occasionally at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln. If you weren't planning on seeing the movie before, maybe you'll think about it now...

Chris Matthews, the host of MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews and The Chris Matthews Show on NBC, was supposed to give a lecture last night at Brown University entitled "John F. Kennedy's Profile in Courage." But unfortunately, due to a change in assignment by MSNBC, the talk had to be rescheduled to the next academic year. As a former Peace Corps member and journalist who covered events such as the fall of the Berlin Wall and Good Friday Peace Talks in Northern Ireland, Matthews was an ideal man to present such a talk. He has some local connections as well; Matthews attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester for his undergraduate studies. I guess we'll have to wait a couple of months to hear his thoughts and opinions in person...
