Sen. Reed, Others to Read to Preschoolers For Books Are Wings

Senator Jack Reed
On Monday, March 2, Senator Jack Reed along with student-athletes from Brown and Bryant Universities and volunteers from Pawtucket Credit Union will join Books Are Wings at Captain Hunt Early Learning Center in Central Falls to read to preschoolers and show that "reading is fun."

"Literacy is the foundation for learning -- not just in school but for lifelong learning.  When kids love to read they have a better chance to succeed,” said Reed.

The Books Are Wings mission is to put free books in the hands of children. This March, Books Are Wings will be, traveling more than 2 miles, visiting five schools with the potential of reaching over 2,000 kids.

At these parties, volunteers will hand out over 5,000 books.

“March Reading Madness is a big undertaking for us but it’s well worth the effort when you see the kids receive their books,” said Jocelyn White, Director of Books Are Wings.

Books Are Wings has set a fundraising goal of $6,000 as part of their campaign.
