Spotted in Newport: Cast and Crew Filming HBO’s The Gilded Age

Filming of the second season of HBO’s The Gilded Age has been underway in Newport — and this week, the production took to the streets.

GoLocal obtained photos of the cast and crew on Bellevue Avenue, in front of the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

The location is the site of the former Newport Casino, commissioned in 1879 by James Gordon Bennet, Jr. as part of an exclusive resort for wealthy Newport residents — and the United States Lawn Tennis Association held its first championship there in 1881. 

The ideal location for The Gilded Age — a period drama set in the 1880s — was featured as well in season one of the show.

As GoLocal reported in April, there are big changes coming to The Gilded Age.

In February, HBO announced it was picking up the series for a second season.
