Stages of Freedom to Host 2nd Annual Maya Angelou Poetry Reading

Stages of Freedom is teaming with the Providence Public Library for the second annual “And Still I Rise: Great Rhode Island Women Reading Maya Angelou’s Poetry” event in honor of Women’s History Month. 

The poetry reading will take place on Sunday, March 26 beginning at 2 p.m. at the Providence Public Library. It is free and open to the public.

The reading are intended to raise awareness of the beauty of the late Dr. Angelou’s words as spoken by women. 

Women from all over the state will share their favorite Angelou poems in dramatic readings. 

Readers include actress Rose Weaver, RI Council for the Humanities director Elizabeth Francis, actress Sylvia Ann Soares and many more.
