History Space Program at Newport Historical Society
This summer the Newport Historical Society expands the popular History Space initiative with a series of costumed interpretation programs at the Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House, with expert historical interpreter Seán O’Brien.
In September O’Brien will discuss specific themes relating to colonial Newport while sharing details about early life in this historic seaport.
Newport International Polo Series at Newport Polo Grounds
Witness the excitement of one of the fastest ball sports in the world, played at thoroughbred racing speed when Team USA/Newport takes on challengers from around the world and major U.S. Cities in the Newport International Polo Series.
Entering its 28th season, audiences of several thousand attend the weekly contests, one of Newport’s most popular summer attractions, a Gilded Age tradition, open to the public.
Rina Naik will present recent abstract landscape paintings that are “rooted in memories” of the New England scenery. Responding to a recent loss, these atmospheric paintings capture fleeting memories. As an artist with a deep interest in design, Naik is interested in “both the observed and the experiential.”
Naik has an MFA in Interior Design and a certificate in drawing and painting from RISD Continuing Education (RISD|CE); she teaches at RISD|CE and Endicott College.
