The Wilbury Group to Present Providence’s 1st Annual Fringe Festival

The Wilbury Theatre Group has announced Providence's 1st annual fringe festival, FRINGEPVD, will be held July 24 through July 27.

One of a kind

FRINGEPVD will be the only festival of its kind in New England. The event will include more than fifty individual theatre, music, dance, multi-media, and performing artists for four nights of over thirty performances in participating venues throughout Providence.

FRINGEPVD is modeled after fringe festivals throughout the country and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The festival will bring over 50 performing artists from Providence and the New England to perform at AS220's 95 Empire Black Box Theater, Aurora Providence, The Movement Exchange, URI Providence Campus, and The Wilbury Theatre Group's performance space at the Southside Cultural Center, along with other non-traditional performance spaces and parade routes throughout the city.

"The Providence fringe festival is meant to bring our arts organizations together to provide artists the opportunity to present their work in a way that supports them, as well as the continued growth of Providence as a recognized leader in the arts," said Wilbury Group Artistic Director Josh Short. "In addition, it supports our mission to provide our audiences access to the cutting-edge works at the forefront of American theatre."

The festival is presented by The Wilbury Theatre Group, in collaboration with URI Providence Campus. Participating partners include AS220, Aurora Providence, The Movement Exchange, Trinity Repertory Company. The festival is supported in part by a grant from The Providence Tourism Council.

Nurture artists and create community ties

FRINGEPVD is produced to nurture emerging and established performing artists and to create ties between artists, audiences, businesses and local organizations, amplifying the vibrancy of Providence as a renowned cultural destination and an unparalleled place to live, work, and visit.

Admissions for all FRINGEPVD productions are determined on a per show basis, with all tickets sold between $5-$10. 100% of all door proceeds go directly to the performing artists.
