Victorian Mourning Customs on Display at Hearthside this Weekend

Lincoln's Hearthside House will host its annual exhibition on Victorian Mourning Customs this weekend.

Hearthside is located at 677 Great Road in Lincoln, RI and general admission is eight dollars, six dollars for seniors and four dollars for ages 10-17. Ages 10 and under get in for free.

Candlelight tours begin on Saturday at 4pm with two following at 5 and 6 pm. On Sunday, tours start at 1pm with the final tour taking place at 3pm

Visitors will learn about the elaborate mourning protocols following the Civil War as friends of Hearthside will recreate the wake of former Hearthside owner Simon E. Thomas, who died in the house on May 2, 1873. Thomas' funeral was held in Hearthside House.
