“In the early '90s, when I was president of Providence Dance Alliance, I initiated a program for local dance artists and companies to perform in the main gallery of the RISD museum each last Sunday of the month. The experience was a magical synthesis of two art forms – dance and visual art," said Annamaura Silverblatt, Creative Director of Balliamo Dance Collective
"I am delighted that the WaterFire Art Center asked me as artistic director of Balliamo Dance Collective to have the company perform as part of their current exhibit: 'Private Visions, Public Ideals, the Legacy of Howard Ben Tré.' I initially met with the dancers at the exhibit to view the works and discuss ideas for improvised pieces," Silveblatt added. "From that exploration, I developed four different segments which will demonstrate the artistic talents of the dancers. Accompanying the performers with his own improvisations will be Kevin 'Big Lux' Lowther on the violin. We will also have the pleasure of presenting the noted poet, Christopher Johnson, who will share two of his works.” -
