Learning to Swim

If you’re from Lincoln, there’s a good chance that you learned how to swim in the fresh water beach at Lincoln Woods State Park.

Originally know as the Lincoln Woods State Beach and later as Olney Beach, the park’s swimming area was dedicated as the Frank Moody State Beach in 1977. In addition to swimming, the park’s fresh water beach is also a favorite for trout fishing.

Interestingly, Lincoln Woods was a preferred destination of local horror author H.P. Lovecraft, who often wrote about the park.

Dynamite Dumplings

You know you’re from Lincoln when you’ve eaten one too many dumpling at Asia Grille.

Located at the Lincoln Mall, Asia Grille has been a local mainstay for over three decades. Recognized for its tasty cuisine – including their delicious Peking dumplings – Asia Grille has been named Rhode Island Monthly’s Best Asian Restaurant in the Blackstone Valley three years in a row.

One of the few businesses remaining from the old Lincoln Mall, Papa Gino’s has been providing Lincoln residents with pizza, pasta, salads, and subs for years.

And let’s not forget Papa Gino’s infamous claw machine, which has pocketed the last dollar of many restaurant goers.

Ice Cream at Lincoln Creamery

You know you’re from Lincoln when you’ve had two scoops of homemade ice cream at Lincoln Creamery.

Known for it’s unique flavors like blueberry cheesecake and mango, this neighborhood ice cream parlor touts big portions and small prices.

Just remember to bring cash if you plan on going to this summertime staple. But then again, if you’re from Lincoln, you probably already knew that.

Super Tuesday

If you’re from Lincoln, you’ve probably been to a Super Tuesday showing at Cinemaworld.

Located in the back of the Lincoln Mall, this state of the art 16-Screen theater charges just $6 for all shows every Tuesday. And what’s more, matinee shows only cost $6.50 everyday.

Cinemaworld may offer bargain prices, but this is far from a bargain basement movie theater. In fact, all screens feature stadium seating, wall-to-wall screens, and DLP digital sight and sound.

The Great Outdoors

If you’re from Lincoln, you’ve probably spent a Saturday afternoon witnessing the beauty of Chase Farm.

Previously home to Lincoln’s last operating dairy farm, Chase Farm is currently used as a destination for families and dog walkers. And who could forget the quaint pond located in the back of the park where most dog owners unleash their pooches and allow them to take a swim.

Resourceful Driving

You know you're from Lincoln when you know a dozen different routes to get into Providence besides Route 146.

Although taking 146 (also known as the Eddie Dowling Highway) may be the shortest distance from Lincoln to Providence, it often takes the longest do to frequent traffic backup.

Due to this, Lincoln residents rely on numerous alternate routes to bypass the traffic congestion. Whether it’s taking Route 246 to Route 44 or taking the Douglas Pike all the way to Providence, Lincoln drivers are never short on way to get to Rhode Island’s capital city.

Famous Residents

When you’re from Lincoln, you’ve probably heard at least one story about the town’s most famous resident – Clem Labine.

Born in Lincoln, Lebine is best known for helping the Dodgers win three World Series titles. In addition to his three World Series Championships, Lebine, a relief pitcher, was named to two All-Star teams in 1956 and 1957. He also led the National League in saves twice.
