3 Steps to Prepare for a Pivot in Your Career - PC School of Continuing Education’s DuClos LIVE

Providence College School of Continuing Education faculty member Lucas DuClos appeared on GoLocal LIVE to explain how his Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies course is a “base camp” for those looking to make a career pivot.

The curriculum — designed by DuClos — is a cornerstone that serves as the gateway to several degree programs at the college.

“The course I developed at PC is basically base camp for people who have either decided to embark on the next phase of their career journey or have just become actively curious and vocal about it,” said DuClos. “There we get into ‘Reflection Labs’ where we really muster our resources for the challenging landscape that we each have ahead of us as we pivot.”

“Really amazing people join us in this cohort,” said DuClos. “The whole experience really is a conversation — but it’s an intentional conversation. It’s meant to do something, and influence momentum and action.”

Course Designed for Change

“I found designs that are similar in everybody’s story about where they’ve been, where they are now, and where they want to go,” said DuClos. “We do a lot of storytelling and learn from other people’s experience pivoting.”

DuClos talked about step one in the course —  “Identify and Document Your Own “Hero’s Journey.”
