Writer, comedian, beer expert and food and wine specialist Michael Pomranz joined GoLocal LIVE’s Chelsea Guay to talk about 2019 trends, and what we can expect to see this year in the food and beverage industry. He is a current contributor for Food & Wine Magazine, and his previous experience working as a writer on the popular Comedy Central show Tosh.0 has given him unique insight into viral online trends and how they affect the industry as a whole.

His diverse interests have inspired him to cover a broad range of topics in his online articles such as the largest fast food chains you have never heard of, new breweries opening every 16 hours, watching chefs on TV is making you fat, red wine coming in powdered form and the guacamole recipe that Jack White eats on tour.

Much of the discussion on GoLocal LIVE  - WATCH ABOVE - was about the effect that viral trends have had on the food and beverage industry as well as some of the more interesting content that he has been able to produce as a contributor for Food & Wine Magazine, including trying the viral trend of drinking wine out of a Pringles can!

He outlined this year's trends including raw and vegan foods, a continued push of restaurants to social media and the desire for opinion driven information.

"People don't necessarily want just want straight news all the time or straight food and beverage stories they want that perspective of what is trending in the industry, and you'll see more and more brands try and appeal to that concept," noted Pomranz.
