LIVE: Caprio's "Caught in Providence" Begins National Distribution

"All of the cases are real. You can't make up or script any of what happens in the courtroom," Caprio said on GoLocal LIVE. "I've had Hollywood producers come up to me and say they couldn't even come up with some of the things people say!"
Caprio was recently honored by the 2018 Rhode Island International Film Festival with a Producer's Circle Award.
"It was truly such an honor to receive the award, especially because Steven Feinberg is such a dear friend," Caprio said. "My grandchildren were there too, and they had a wonderful time. I was able to meet so many wonderful people, and there was food, so it really couldn't have been a better night!"
While in the courtroom, Caprio's main goal is to ensure everyone feels respected.
"I always say: treat everyone with dignity and respect, no matter what situation you're in. There's no reason not to," Caprio said. "Lots of people come through the courtroom -- and I say the courtroom, not my courtroom, because it's not my courtroom. It's the people's courtroom. I'm just the minister of it for my short time. These people all deserve respect and human dignity."
"Caught in Providence" started when Caprio's brother was given two hours of public access television time and realized he needed more content to fill it.
"I was opposed to the idea at first, but changed my mind," Caprio said. "We started with a few people watched, and through the advent of social media, we were really able to take off. Now I get messages from people all over the world who have seen my show."
Caprio's show is different from others like it because everything is real.
"I'm not here to say anything bad about Judge Judy!" Caprio said with a laugh. "She's been quite successful and I'm never one to be against success. But my show is different. It's real."
