LIVE: Stand-up Comedian Carly Aquilino Talks Career, Comedy & Inspiration

Stand-up comedian and TV personality Carly Aquilino says that she’s always had the itch to do comedy, jotting down jokes in notebooks when she was a kid, but didn’t always have the confidence.

“I always thought I wanted to do it, but didn’t know if I had the nerve to go up on stage,” Aquilino says, “I would always write jokes, and notes and sketches and stuff like that, and then I just gave it a shot and it ended up working out.”

Aquilino says she pulls inspiration for material from her daily life and the most relatable material works well with audiences. 

“Whatever I’m going through in my life, whether it's my family, my friends, my boyfriend, if I’m dating someone, if I’m single, anything like that,” Aquilino says, “I take it from whatever I’m going through in my life at the time that way it can evolve and change as I grow.”

Best known for being a cast member on MTV’s Girl Code, Aquilino has also appeared on TV Land and can be heard on Sirius XM. 

Aquilino has two shows at The Comedy Connection on Saturday at 7:30 and 10 p.m.
