Offshore Wind Energy “About to Explode,” Says Deepwater Wind Legal Counsel Petros on LIVE

Jerry Petros
Deepwater Wind legal counsel Jerry Petros with Hinckley Allen appeared on GoLocal LIVE, following the recent expansion announcement in Rhode Island for a 400-megawatt offshore wind farm, and Connecticut agreeing to purchase 200 megawatts from Deepwater Wind — and what is next.

“We’ve had a fun and unique experience working with Deepwater Wind, taking them through all of the barriers, the hurdles, the traps, the legal approvals, the permits, to go from a great idea….to five turbines spinning off of Block Island, and paving the path for all of the wind energy offshore that’s about to explode in the northeast now,” said Petros.

“It is unchartered water in the United States — it’s been done in Europe — but finally someone took the lead and proved the proposition that you can do offshore wind here and do it effectively,” said Petros.
