Prof. Lawless Discusses Trump's and Harris' Biggest Mistakes

Trump:
Starting with the former president, Lawless, the Chair of the Political Science Department at the University of Virginia, responded, “JD Vance.”
“Now, some of that is in retrospect because he was a cocky pick, when he thought he was going to be running against Joe Biden, but JD Vance brings absolutely nothing to the ticket and has made it very difficult for Trump to try and attract suburban women," said Lawless, of Trumps's pick for running mate.
“It was bad enough Trump was already in a position where he was trying to portray himself as relatively moderate on abortion, yet was somebody who overturned Roe vs. Wade pretty much single-handedly, but with Vance on the ticket, they hit a ceiling when it came to female voters,” said Lawless.
Harris:
With Harris, Lawless said the Vice President’s biggest mistake was that it “took her a little bit too long to focus on the economy.”
“It’s crazy, it’s only been 90 days, but at the time it seemed like we just needed to give her a little bit of time to introduce herself to the American people and to get situated, but in retrospect even losing a week on policy was a week where you could get more and more people to say well I don’t really know what she stands for," said Lawless.
“So in retrospect, they probably should have come right out with substance and stature and positioning as opposed to just that intro for the first week of two,” said Lawless.
