Raimondo's Proposed Medicaid Cuts Would be Devastating, Says Neighborhood Health Plan's Marino

Peter Marino
Neighborhood Health Plan President and CEO Peter Marino joined GoLocal News Editor Kate Nagle on GoLocal LIVE at the Rhode Island State House, where he spoke to Governor Gina Raimondo's FY19 budget proposal -- and how her proposed Medicaid cuts would impact not just Neighborhood, but the one third of Rhode Islanders who are part of the program.

Marino spoke to both how Raimondo's proposal to cut Medicaid funding by $166 million would hurt Neighborhood, which in 2017 relied on Medicaid for 95% of its revenue -- as well as how the proposal to tack on co-pays to Medicaid recipients for services and prescriptions could have unintended consequences -- and possibly end up costing the state more.
