RI Hospitality Association's Singleton Discusses Washington Bridge Failure's Impact

“When it first happened back in mid-December, it was right before the holiday season, so our industry just got crushed. There were significant holiday parties, corporate events, business outings that just got canceled,” said Singleton on GoLocal Monday.
“It will take a couple of years to get through this; at least now we can start planning and come up with some creative solutions to help these businesses,” said Singleton.
Singleton said that her membership already has enough loan debt due to COVID-19 and that the state needs to do more.
“We are the voice of the industry so we will continue to listen to the business owners we will continue to be out there advocating on their behalf,” added Singleton.
Last week, Governor Dan McKee claimed that the Washington Bridge demolition and replacement would take two years.
To date, all of the timelines provided by the McKee administration and Rhode Island Department of Transportation Director Peter Alviti have proven to be false.
