“It’s not legal for [President Donald Trump] to shut down the border for those people seeking asylum,” said Molina Flynn, an immigration attorney, of the caravan of immigrants making its way through Mexico towards the United States.
“Look, the asylum process is complicated and it takes years sometimes for asylum cases to be adjudicated but there is a fast process conducted at the border to determine whether the people coming in actually have credible asylum claims.”
Molina Flynn also spoke to raising $27,000 in his first year as head of the RI Latino PAC - -and how a major focus will be gearing up for 2020.
“When we started this journey in the fall of 2017, the PAC’s board and membership were committed to breaking records and raising the profile of the organization” said Molina Flynn. “By raising over $27,000 in one year, successfully organizing our membership, and endorsing 26 winning candidates in the primaries, Latinx Rhode Islanders are proving that they are a force to be reckoned with in Rhode Island politics.”
