Rosie Fernandez Talks About Cox Innovation Labs, Supporting STEAM, and More
Fernandez is the Public Affairs Manager for Cox and works to connect the company to community events and volunteer efforts.
She is involved with a range of initiatives but said that for her, one stands out.
“One of my favorite programs, to be honest with you, is the Cox Innovation Labs. It's a great partnership that we've had for over 20 years with the Boys and Girls Clubs Of America throughout Rhode Island. We've actually outfitted 20 Labs in Rhode Island,” said Fernandez.
“This is where the Boys and Girls clubs open their doors to young people, and they're able to get on all new digital equipment from high-tech computers, to 3D printing; they're working on their gaming skills [or other digital skills] that show that this is important work when it comes to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math),” she added
In 2024, the company’s employees invested nearly 2,000 hours back into Rhode Island through volunteer initiatives.
And, in 2023 Cox donated over $1.6 million in cash and in-kind contributions to various non-profits throughout the state, in addition to offering affordable internet through our digital equity programs.

Since 2001, Cox employees have funded $7 million in grants and in-kind support for nonprofit organizations that offer STEAM enrichment programs to young people in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Ohio through the employee-funded Cox Charities program. This long-term investment underscores the company's commitment to empowering the next generation through education and technology.
