Special Olympics' RI DeJesus on 50th Anniversary Gala on LIVE

Denny DeJesus with Special Olympics RI joined GoLocal News Editor Kate Nagle on GoLocal LIVE to talk about the 50th Anniversary Gala taking place on Saturday -- and what he envisions for the future of the organization. 

"It’s an opportunity to celebrate, it’s to celebrate 50 years of acceptance, inclusion, and respect, and when you think back to 1968, it was a different world — a world of institutional living, it was segregation in our schools, and such much has changed over the past 50 years," said DeJesus. 

"Members of our community live, work, and go to school in our communities and they’re active participants in our community."

DeJesus talked about the organization's year-round programming -- and how employment opportunities are a major focus moving forward.
