UPDATED: 5 to 8 Inches of Snow in RI Forecast Starting Sat. Evening - More Snow Next Week

A winter storm watch has been issued for Rhode Island and southern New England from Saturday evening through Sunday afternoon. 

According to the National Weather Service, 5 to 8 inches of total snow accumulation is possible.

"Travel could be very difficult," says NWS, saying that "heavy snow" is possible.

Snow, mainly before noon. High near 36. North wind 6 to 10 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches is possible.

Mostly clear, with a low around 17. Light west wind.

Sunny, with a high near 32. West wind 3 to 7 mph.
