Allie's Donuts Closes Over Coronavirus Testing of Staff - Hopes to Open Soon

The North Kingstown donut shop Allie's has announced that it is temporarily closing due to a potential infection among staff members.

The shop became embattled in the discussion of race relations when the company ended its long-time policy of discounts for police and the military. 

The company announced on Friday:

Unfortunate circumstances have forced our hand, and as of Friday 8/21, the staff has had to drop everything and get tested for coronavirus.

There has been an asymptomatic positive test in the tight-knit community surrounding the Allie’s Donuts Family, and we have decided to sacrifice all the good that comes from making donuts in order to ensure the safety of our staff members and our customers.

We support our staff and their families as much as we can, and make this tough decision knowing that health and safety are priority #1.

We will make sure to update the world when we get back enough negative results to start making donuts again. Shouldn’t be long...
