Back in May after the jury sided in favor of the death penalty marathon bombing victim, Heather Abbott of Newport stated: “Today, my thoughts are with the other bombing survivors and the jury who made what was likely among the most difficult decisions of their lives. The verdict, regardless of which one it turned out to be, doesn't bring me peace. It brings sadness and cause to reflect, again, on just how senseless ALL of the deaths and injuries resulting from this situation are."

A jury found Dzhokhar Tsarnaev guilty of 30 federal charges on May 15.

The US District Court of Massachusetts filed the notice of intent to seek the death penalty for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on January 30, 2014.
