“I Am Not Going to be President-Elect Biden’s Nominee for HHS Secretary," Says Raimondo

Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo on Thursday addressed speculation that she could be President-elect Joseph Biden’s nomination for Secretary of Health and Human Services.

At her weekly coronavirus briefing, Raimondo shot down the rumors. 

“I am not going to be President-elect Biden’s nominee for HHS Secretary,” she said, saying, “I realize rumors are rampant. “

On Thursday, Raimondo addressed the latest coronavirus numbers, reports to date on the start of the state’s two week partial shutdown, and prospects for vaccine distribution in the state.

As GoLocal reported, the Rhode Island Department of Health on Thursday reported 1,330 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, and 9 additional deaths.

Rhode Island is now at 1,400 coronavirus-related fatalities since the start of the pandemic.
