BREAKING NEWS: Chafee Names Gibb to be Child Advocate

Governor Lincoln Chafee has appointed Regina Marie Costa Gibb as Child Advocate for the State of Rhode Island.

Gibb has held a number of positions at the Department of Children, Youth & Families over the last 25 years. Most recently, she has served as a probation and parole supervisor.

Gibb had also been nominated to the position by Gov. Don Carcieri, but was never confirmed.

The purpose of the Office of the Child Advocate is to “protect the legal rights of children” under state care and promote the policies and practices that ensure that children are safe, have stable families, and that all the needs of children removed from their homes are met.
