Breaking News: Pawtucket Red Sox Owner Dies

Pawtucket Red Sox owner Ben Mondor has passed away, according to 630 WPRO, a GoLocalProv media partner.

Mondor passed away at his home in Warwick Sunday night, according to a statement from the team. “He was an incredible and charitable man who was first and foremost devoted to his wife Madeline, along with his PawSox family and entire community at large,” the team states.

Mondor bought the team in 1977, bringing it out of bankruptcy. He was the Sporting News Minor League Executive of the Year in 1999 and inducted into the parent’s club Hall of Fame in 2004.
